Indian Medical Post Graduation Degree is having a high popularity among the foreign medical graduates or the NRI’s. The medical council of India has allotted 15% of seats for NRI Students aspiring to study in India under the NRI Quota. The NRIs are eligible for getting admissions in their Post Graduate Diploma courses in their reserved seats. The students pick the diploma courses to get more practical knowledge in their professional career and the diploma holders also have a greater scope in their career path.

The NRIs who have completed their MBBS in an overseas Medical Institutions or the candidates who are sponsored by the NRI supporter should also appear for NEET PG2020 in order to get admission into the top reputed Medical Colleges in India they should have cleared the NEET PG with qualifying scores. Candidates consider under the NRI Quota are

PG Medical Courses  for nri students

The NRI students can participate in the counseling for the 15 % of the quota seats. The admission process for the PG Diploma courses will follow the same procedure as that of the MD/ MS seats and will be conducted in two counseling.

  • Central counseling conducted by the MCC for filling the seats in 50% all India Quota seats, Armed Force Medical Services (AFMS) and Deemed and Central Universities.
  • State PG Counseling will be conducted for 50% State Quota seats and Private Medical Institutions.

Candidates are allowed to apply for central and state counseling. The Counseling will be conducted for 2 rounds and the doctors will be called for the process according to their merit list based on the NEET PG 2020 scores after the mop round of counseling the vacancies will be reverted back to the institutions and will be converted into management seats.

Documents Required

The NRI students are required to submit these following supporting documents during their admission process.

  • NRI status of the financial supporter issued by the Indian Embassy of the resident country under their country seal.
  • Certificate of Relationship between the NRI financial supporter and the student provided by the competent authority.
  • NRE (Non Resident External) Bank Account Pass Book of the financial supporter of the student.
  • Proof for payment of Development charges US $ 1000/- to the college by the NRI financial supporter.

Direct Admissions

After the two rounds of Counseling the vacant seats and the seats of the candidates who have failed to get admission in stipulated time will be return to the college by MCC for the direct admission process. The private or self-financing Institutions are always having an open gate for the NRI students to have admission in their institutions for the PG Diploma Courses under Management Quota. (http://medicineeducation.org/md-ms-admission-process-through-management-quota/)

The students can gain admission in PG Diploma courses through direct admission by approaching the college after the counseling. There may be a heavy competition prevailing as the number of seats allotted for the NRI’s is less than the number of candidates applying for it. Hence the students must be fast to grab their PG Diploma seats through donation process. However it is necessary to clear the NEET PG with qualifying marks to get admission in Post Graduate Medical courses in India.

For nri the admsiion is done by mcc through centralized counselling.
Hey Kalyan,

  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental Colleges subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institution and the Government of India.
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
  • Admission to the NRI seats may be made on the basis of the marks in the qualifying examination.
  • NRI students are not eligible for seats in the General Quota, instead the Seats of NRI that are not filled are transferred to General Quota.
  • For AIIMS, there isn't any reservations for NRI students. You will have to answer AIIMS 2018 and compete with Indian students answering the exam.
  • For Counseling in the State you belong to, you will have to register to opt for the counseling of your state. Here, also you will be under NRI Quota and not General Quota.
  • As for Private Medical Colleges, there are NRI seats vacant here as well. You have to apply to the respective Colleges separately for the quota.
  • However, you are eligible to 15% All India Quota, provided you score a good rank.
  • You should focus on your preparations now and try your best to obtain a good score that will allow you to be elligible for AIQ.
  • I hope I answered your query. All the best for your Preparations.

You can apply for NEET (which is the only exam for MBBS, BDS etc.) and compete for All India 15% quota seats.

Similarly, you can also apply for AIIMS and JIPMER.

there are some government medical colleges which offer reserved seats for NRI but the number of seats are very less.

Good luck.
