For JMI :-
The candidate shall apply for admission to the Ph. D. Programme on a prescribed form (Annexure - I), which may be downloaded from the University's website, http://jmi.ac.in. The application for admission shall be submitted to the Centre concerned along with a Demand Draft. The Entrance Test will be for screening the applicants in order to determine their suitability for admission to Ph. D. Programme of the concerned Department/ Faculty/ Centre. Qualifying the Entrance Test will in no way entitle the candidate to any right to admission in the Ph. D. Programme. The medium of Entrance Test shall be English, except in the language departments, which may set the question paper in the language concerned. The Entrance Test shall be based on a single question paper comprising of Part ‘A’ and ‘B’, which shall of three hours duration. The Part ‘A’ of the question paper shall include 50 multiple choice (objective type) questions of one mark each on teaching and research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, language, writing and analytical skills, and contemporary issues relevant to research and higher education The part-A of the question paper shall be of ONE hour duration The Part ‘B’ of the Question Paper shall be devoted to the advanced knowledge of subject concerned and that of the specialization, if any. It shall have a weight age of 100 marks out of which 50 marks will be assigned to 50 multiple choice (objective type) questions of one mark each and a set of subjective types of questions having a weight age of another 50 marks. The Part B of the question paper shall be of TWO hours duration.
For JNU :- Selection of the candidates for the Ph. D. will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination and viva-voice, both conducted by the university . The candidates are invited for CBT examination and candidates qualifying in the CBT examination shall be called for viva voce Examination. A PhD aspirant must hold a Master's degree/ MPhil course work with at least 55 per cent aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) PG holders of AYUSH related subjects are also eligible to apply.
