All the Best !!
You don't have to get a degree in biomedical engineering there are other ways you can go for diploma in Biomedical engineering and then apply for bachelor's in technology /science accordingly if you are into making devices go for the B. Tech in ECE or EEE or even mechanical engineering and can work with firms such as Medical companies, Hospitals, Instrument Manufacturers, Diagnostic centers, Installation Units etc.
If you are interested in medical field go for BSc. Biomedical science (3yr) which you can go ahead with opportunities employment in areas like Colleges & Universities, Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Companies, Clinical Research Coordinator, Medical Transcript, Data Analyst, Research Assistant, Sales Manager etc.
But you have to be clear for yourself that in which area you are interested in as after your Bachelor's you can go for becoming a researcher or go for MBA program, maybe apply for work.
So in short it a vast field with numerous opportunities.
