In Kerala , qualification of a food inspector are ,

1. A Degree in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Sciences or Biochemistry or Microbiology or Masters Degree in Chemistry or Degree in Medicine from a University recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala, or its equivalent qualifications.
2. Also , The selected candidates will have to undergo training successfully as specified by the Food Authority in a recognized Institute or Institution approved for the purpose during the period of probation.

Now , scope of food technology in abroad is very good , as in abroad more research is being carried out in food sector to bring out new foods which are more healthier and provide better nutrition with maximum luxury ( less cooking). So , American and European countries spend lot of money in R&D sector. And at the same time demand of food inspectors rise.

You can also work in many domains like  restaurants; food processing companies; catering establishments; soft drink manufacturing firms; spice, cereal and rice mills; quality control organisations; food research laboratories; and packaging industries.
