When Grignard reagents, CH 3 MgBr reacts with CO 2 and water to form ethanoic acid. That is the reaction of the Grignard reagent with CO 2 result in the formation of carboxylic acids. The following reaction shows the reaction of CH3MgBr with carbon dioxide and water.
