Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing well.
When it comes to Supply Chain and Logistics, India is still a very unorganised nation, according to the World Bank. There is a great deal of room for development here. Supply Chain Management encompasses the planning, design, control, and execution of all business processes associated with a company's procurement, production, distribution, and sales order fulfilment activities. Supply Chain Management is also known as "logistics management."
Accordingly, Supply Chain Management encompasses the management of supply and demand, procurement of raw materials and components, manufacturing and assembly, storage and inventory monitoring, ordering, order management and distribution across all channels, as well as delivery to the end consumer. Supply Chain Management would be incomplete without logistics. First and foremost, if you are pursuing this degree in SCM only in the hope that it would or should lead to employment in India or abroad, you should be prepared to be disappointed. I'm not trying to discourage you in any way. SCM and/or Logistics are very important in almost every industry. Without a doubt. I recommend that you try it just out of curiosity. For freshers, obtaining a position in supply chain management at the consultant level presents just a few difficulties (without industry experience). With a handful of certificates, you'll be able to increase your qualification. During the first two to three years, say 2–3, you will be required to do tasks in the manufacturing industry on the factory floor, thus soiling your hands. During the two years after graduation, you should also seek the CSCP certification from APICS, which will give you an edge on the job market. After gaining five years of valuable work experience, you may pursue a career as a consultant for firms such as Deloitte, E&Y, and others. When you have a lot of expertise in supply chain management, there is a lot of demand for your services. According to the global market, the next major thing would be that SCM professionals will be the most sought after to become CEOs, since they would be familiar with virtually all elements of the whole organisation, which CEOs from Finance or Marketing would not have the opportunity to learn about. So, supply chain management (SCM) is a huge deal, and working in SCM with a genuine passion will propel you to higher heights.
Hope you got the answer to your question. Incase of any queries, feel free to question. Have a great day!
