What is the scope of biotechnology ?
Hello aspirant,
The future of biotechnology in India is good. People are not completely aware of this field and career prospects.
If you are a B.Sc. student in biotechnology or any other biological science related fields, it is highly recommended that you pursue M.Sc.
You can do your M.Sc. programs in colleges such as JNU, DU, IISc, IIT's, etc.
With an M.Sc. degree, you tend to work in research labs and industries as research assistant. The pay package is quite less for M.Sc. graduates. If your university is not reputed, chances of any biotechnology company coming for placement will be very less.
However, if you are passionate about science and research work you should tend to pursue PhD degree in biotechnology or related fields. A PhD degree will give you the ability to start your own research lab, become a professor or head of the department in universities or be the lead for team of research scientists.
Biotechnology is an extremely research oriented field. Moreover, the career growth is slow and not too financially rewarding in first 3–5 years.
