What is the scope of placement electronics and computer science engineering in kiit?
I wouldn’t recommend to opt for these branches because these branches are just to increase the no. of seats in school of computer engineering.
these branches create complications in future carrier and they are made insole purpose of somehow increasing the no. of seats and admitted students.
since, KIIT is a deemed university , he can do so. It is one of the demerits of being in a deemed university .
DON’T GET DEPRESSED BY MY ANSWER .
i will highly recommend to change ur branch in 2nd year.
pls score more than 8.5 CGPA IN ur 1st and 2nd semester and apply for branch change. for students admitted in 2016–17, the branch change process for 2nd year has been already started .
During counseling, if u have filled the branch selection form given to u ,then, there are chances that ur branch might be upgraded due to branch sliding
For sure I can smell the complications of this type of branches, BUT at the same time this branches offer you the knowledge of both electronic (60%) and CS(40%).Thus you are applicable for both the industry.
I know people who are in this branches and are doing exceptionally well. You get chances to get yourself exposed to both electronic project as well as CS.
For instance my friend was working in matlab, embedded at the same time he worked on IOT, both being completely different projects.
But in case if you want to change your branch, then the university might upgrade your branch as you have filled in the form, in case of seat availability. You can try for branch change at the end of 1 year.
From placement point of view you can opt for cse or electronics. But you get a much more competition than any other branches. There are many companies who prefer cse or electronics graduates. You have to compete with your batchmates during the placements if you want a better package. The package starts from 3lakhs and goes upto 12lakhs approximately in IT companies. There are companies who have the job profile of Data Analyst, and their CTC is good too. So if you have a good academic record and you are good in coding and stuffs you may opt for these branches.
And in Electronics there are Engineering services exams and other PSUs so if you take electronics you can try for these exams as well .
Electronics and Computer Science Engineering was introduced in KIIT University last year. So, I don’t think anyone will be able to tell exactly as to what can be expected from the course. But I can present you with some estimates which will give you some idea beforehand:
The first year course curriculum is same for all the branches, i.e., you will have to study the basic subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electronics, Engineering Mechanics, etc. You can get more info about it on the official KIIT site.
Now, the actual branch course starts from 2nd year. Luckily enough, I found the course structure for Electronics and Computer Science Engineering here.
Now, if you look at the subjects that you have to study, you will get a brief idea that there is 55% weightage to electronics subjects and 45% weightage to CS subjects.
Now, as far as the subjects are concerned, these are relatively easier than the subjects which students from electronics and CS branches have to study.
All in all Electronics and Computer Science Engineering is a decent branch but if you are still interested in getting into CS or IT, there is always a branch change option after 1st year. The cut-off to apply for branch change is 8.5 CGPA but you will need to have a CGPA of 9.2 or greater for CS and 8.9 or greater for IT.
You can read my answer here as of how to secure a good CGPA in KIIT University.
