Hey I can guide you I guess because I've my cousin who had been through the same course.

Coming to the enterance exam syllabus, there is no specifically prescribed syllabus. So, he “assumed” it to be from reproduction and embryology chapters at bachelor's level.

One can complete each and every topic and sub topic of - Reproduction, reproductive health, genetics mainly- (chromosomal disorders/syndromes), human embryology, foetal development, birth defects (causes & treatment), medical related current affairs/ schemes etc.

AIIMS being the most prestigious institution, one can expect the questions to be of higher level. To ensure that you are well prepared, you can even covered few topics from the 1st year MBBS book of embryology, “The Langman's.”  You can pen down the detailed points on general embryology like cleavage, stages of organogenesis, teratogenesis etc for in-depth knowledge.

One has to solve numerous mock papers on embryology and reproduction from different websites. Khan academy, Synap, Proprofs, Quizlet etc. But my brother found the website “synap” to be the toughest of all because questions were purely from MBBS. He even solved papers of various medical entrance exams on reproduction and embryology.

THE EXAM PATTERN :- 90 Multiple choice questions in 90 minutes. The exam is conducted online. You have to go through a heavy frisking before you enter the exam hall.

And now, finally the exam. He appeared for the first time in this exam. Paper was nowhere close to what one thought. One would describe it as ridiculously unexpected. Yes. The questions were very basic. Half of the paper was from basic ncert, the chapter “Molecular basis of inheritance.” Questions were all around DNA, RNA, Amino acids, codons, base pairs, transcription, etc.

And the other half was on menstrual cycle, reproductive hormones, gametogenesis etc.

And a few (approx 2) questions were not understandable to me. These were related to molecular biology.

There were no questions on chromosomal disorders/ syndromes, general embryology, genetic abnormalities, inheritance, cleavage, reproductive health, medical schemes or current affairs.

So the final conclusion is, don't over prepare like he did. Stick to the basics.  Ncert and a medical entrance exam book might be enough to cover up.

Too many questions (almost half of the paper) belonged to “molecular basis of inheritance.” And maximum number of “expected questions” were escaped from the original topic itself. Anyways, I have only described the exam pattern of this year.

The result will be declared in “percentile score.”

From his experience I concluded that a candidate preparing for MSc AIIMS should stick more to the basic books and solve enterance exams mock papers to excel well.

Best wishes. Thank you.
