Hello Akash,

There are two ways of applying for BBA program in Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, KIIT.

  • One way is through KIITEE score.

KIITEE is a national level entrance exam, annually conducted by KSOM (KIIT School of Management), acting as a gateway to many UG and PG programmes in KIIT University. Admission to all courses in technology, management, science, computer applications is done on the basis of KIITEE score, except MBBS, BDS, PG Medical and Dental for which admission is granted through NEET score.

It is an online exam, for which every year nearly 1.5 lakhs appear to get admission in various courses. Validity of the score is 1 year. The application form is free for all candidates.

  • Another way is through UGAT score.

According to the KIIT's official site, one of the eligibility criteria of getting admission into KIIT for BBA course is with the valid UGAT Score.

Eligibility Criteria for BBA program via KIITEE:

  • Education qualification- Minimum 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 exam from a recognized board.
  • Age-limit- Candidate should have born on or after 1.7.1998.

Exam Pattern:

Total Questions: 120

Time Duration: 3 hours

  • Mathematical ability/Quantitative aptitude: 30 questions
  • Logical reasoning/reasoning ability: 30 questions
  • GK/general awareness: 20 questions
  • General communication/English language: 40 questions

The exam pattern for almost all BBA entrances for different universities is more or less the same.

So whether you're now up to clearing UGAT/ DUJAT/ SET/ KIITEE, you'll find yourself facing similar type of questions which are described below:

Mathematical Ability/ Quantitative Aptitude:

This section of the exam focuses on one's mathematical skills. It generally comprises of questions from 7th to 10th class and has little to do with 12th maths. As a result, any candidate with good command on the basics of Mathematics can crack this section easily.

  • Number Theory
  • Square Roots
  • HCF and LCM
  • Data Sufficiency Test
  • Profit And Loss
  • Surds and Indices
  • Simplification
  • Percentage
  • Quantitative Comparison
  • Average
  • Fraction and Decimals
  • Commercial Math
  • Ratio and Proportion
  • Data Interpretation
  • Compound and Simple Interest
  • Partnership
  • Mensuration Area
  • Volume
  • Data Comparison
  • Discounts
Focus on the above topics and you're good to go.

Logical reasoning/reasoning ability:

Logical reasoning is a section that examines your aptitude for business studies, in other words, your general aptitude. You can practice logical reasoning questions from previous years sample papers (of different exams), or purchase any BBA book from the local store for practice.

  • Number Test
  • Analogy Test
  • Insert Missing Sequence Test
  • Direction and distance Test
  • Classification (Odd Man Out) Test
  • Logical Word Sequence Test
  • Coding & Decoding Test
  • Mathematical Operations
  • Series Test
  • Data Arrangement Test
  • Raking Test
  • Logical Diagram (Venn Diagram)
  • Relationship Test
  • Alpha Numeric Symbol Sequence
  • Alphabet Test
  • Cubes and Cubical Dice Test
  • Time Sequence Test
  • Statement Arguments
  • Statement Conclusion
  • Data Sufficiency Test
  • Logic Test
  • Statements Assumptions
  • Statement Action

GK/general awareness:

General knowledge makes a very important section in many entrance exams, including public exams like UPSE. In BBA entrance exams, GK comprises of questions on current affairs as well as business knowledge.

  • Business and General Awareness
  • Business
  • Trade awareness of world and India
  • Geography
  • Economic Study
  • General polity
  • Science
  • Computer Science
  • Sports
  • Awards
  • Current Events
  • History
One can easily attend this section by developing a habit of reading newspapers/magazines and watching the news.

General communication/English language:

If one has decent command over English, they can easily score well in this section. Just brush up your general English and you'll have no problem in this section.

  • Vocabulary
  • Synonyms & Antonyms
  • English comprehensions
  • English proficiency
  • Idioms and Phrases
  • One word substitution
  • Analogies
  • Spelling Mistakes
  • Rearrangement of a word in sentences
  • Rearrangement of a sentence in paragraph
  • English Usage errors
  • Spotting errors
  • Inappropriate usage of words

Now this answers your first question about syllabus for BBA entrance exam.

About whether or not you should apply for KIIT/KSOM depends on what you expect from the college itself. Generally, the best colleges for pursuing BBA are the following, for a variety of reasons:

  • Christ University, Bangalore (CUET entrance exam)
  • Delhi University, Delhi (DUJAT entrance exam)
  • NMIMS University, Mumbai (NMIMS-NPAT entrance exam)
  • Symbiosis International University, Pune (SET entrance exam)
  • IIM-Indore (IPMAT entrance exam)

All the above colleges have their brand names for the BBA program way over the private universities like Amity, KIIT, MIT and you-name-it.

KIIT University has following achievements:

  • 8th among private universities.
  • 42nd Among Indian Universities Ranked by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)
  • 30th for KSOM by NIRF
  • 'A' grade NAAC accredition
  • Tier 1 accredition by Washington Accord (only 6 insititutes apart from IITs are accredited this)

So, it's not like KIIT-KSOM is not a good college- it is great, and is becoming better even for a young college who hasn't even completed its 20 years of existence and has made great achievements in its years. Many good companies visit KIIT. The package ranges from 2.2 LPA to 34LPA, and has average package of 6LPA. Faculty is impressive and knowledgable enough, and the KSOM infrastructure is said to be the best in KIIT. What more does one need in a management school?

However, in India, brand and age of the college (older, the better) matters a lot for which the above colleges are comparitively much better options for pursuing BBA course.

My opinion: If you're planning to pursue MBA after BBA (which you totally should), then IIT-Indore is a great and popular option for its 5 years integrated program: BBA+MBA.

I hope this helps. For any additional information, leave a comment.
