You have not mentioned the college you are studying in. But the first year subjects are common for all branches be it Civil, ECE, CSE, etc. The idea behind this is to familiarise the students to all the basics of engineering and make you understand that in real life engineering can never be limited to a single branch. Another reason is that some colleges allow change of branch, so they can come to know about the other branches with the help of. their first year syllabus and if one wants to switch over to some other department then they would not miss out on the basics of that department.
So depending on your college the subjects will vary, so will the credit for each of the subjects. For example ill provide links which will show the different subjects covered in the first year and the weightage for each of these subjects for some universities:
