The syllabus of UP SI consists four topics- General Hindi, Law or Constitution and General Knowledge, Numerical & Mental Ability Test and Mental Aptitude Test. Total 160 questions (40 from each section) from these four section will be asked and each question carries 2.5 marks. General hindi contains topics like Hindi Vyakaran, Unseen passage, Letter writing, Antonym- Synonym, Idioms, phrases, Splitting sentences, correction etc. Law and constitution- Topics from Human rights, Fundamental rights, Wild life reservation, Traffic rules, Reservation, Safety of Women and Children etc. In general knowledge section, questions can be asked from current affairs, so read newspaper thoroughly every day. Do gather knowledge on scientific development, Currency, Sports etc. Numerical Aptitude- quantitative problems like HCF, LCM, Profit and loss, percentage, mixture and allegation, Time and distance, Mensuration, Partnership etc and Mental ability test includes Coding decoding, Blood relation, seating arrangement, syllogism, Analogy , Number series, Direction sense test, Data sufficiency etc. Mental ability test includes Basics of Law, Reasoning test.

The selection process of the exam is mentioned below:

  • Online written exam
  • Documentation and physical standard test
  • Physical Efficiency test

Online exam will be of 400 marks with a total of 160 questions of 2.5 marks each. The duration of the test is 120 minutes. There is no negative marking and test is available in both Hindi and English Language. There are a total of 4 sections in the online examination and there will be 40 questions from each section and minimum qualifying marks in each section is 35.
