The total marks in jee mains is 300 for paper 1 ( b.tech) for paper 2 it is 400 ( for b.arch ) . Out of 300 their are different cutoff for different categories .
You have to score good Marks according to your category to qualify jee mains .
And yes their will be negative marking in jee mains in 2021 also.
And there are two exams in jee mains from which first will be held on Jan and second will be in the second week of April.

For different fields one is for B.tech and other is for B.arch means architecture. Total marks for b.tech is 300 only and for b.arch is for 400 only.
JEE Main 2021 will be conducted in two sessions- January and April. JEE Main is conducted for two papers- Paper 1 for B.E/ B.Tech and Paper 2 for B.Arch or B.Plan .
The paper 1 will have a total of 75 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Each has 20 MCQs and 5 numerical questions. Total 300 marks paper will be there while paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan) will be conducted separately for 400 marks each.
Yes there will be negative marking for MCQ questions. 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 1 Mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer and for numerical questions 4 Marks will be awarded for every correct answer and no negative marking for numerical questions.
