What is the UGC NET selection process after qualifying the exam?

UGC NET is a national level exam for the aspirants of the teaching sector. The following selection process is followed after qualifying the exam-
1. Candidates who secure a minimum of 40% aggregate in both the papers together are considered for the award of JRF and are eligible for assistant professor.
2. On the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates, a subject wise and a category wise merit is prepared for selection.
3. Only top 15% candidates of this merit list from each subject and category are selected and declared as NET qualified for assistant professor only.
4. For JRF( junior research fellows) another merit list from the list of NET qualified candidates merit list is prepared.
