Hi dear,

Hope you are doing well!

Now let's go through your question.

Generally, Special Vacant Seats Filling Rounds , also known as special rounds are being conducted by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) to fill the vacant seats at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs (Except IITs) after completion of all the JoSAA Rounds. Mainly there are 2 Special Rounds are conducted namely Special Round-I and Special Round-II.

CSAB Special round for NITs, IIITs and GFTIS  Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will hold a special round counselling tentatively in last week of July 2019 for admitting students in first year UG courses in engineering/architecture to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.

Note:

The CSAB Special Round  will be held after the completion of seventh round of JoSAA.

Eligiblity :

  • All candidates who were eligible for JoSAA  as per JEE (Main) rank will be eligible for participating in the Special Round.
  • All such candidates who have participated in JoSAA but declared ineligible will stand ineligible for this Special Round as well.
  • Candidates who have not registered in JoSAA till now but are eligible as per their JEE (Main) rank will also be eligible for participating in the Special Round.
  • Candidates who participated in JoSAA and were allotted a seat will also be eligible for participating in the Special Rounds for NITs/IIITs/ other GFTIs (except IITs).
  • Candidates who participated in JoSAA  but did not get any seat will also be eligible for participating in the Special Rounds for NITs/IIITs/ other GFTIs (except IITs).
  • Candidates who have opted “Not to Participate in Special Round” at the time of reporting at the Allotted Institute are NOT ELIGIBLE to register in Special Round.

Thank You & All the best!

Speical rounds of counselling are used to fill up the vacant seats which are left after no one reports to college once the seven rounds of counselling are finished.

Due to this there is a significant drop of cut-off in these rounds especially for lower branches in most colleges. Even if you withdrew earlier from counselling you can reapply for this round or even if you are unsatisfied with your present seat you can take part in this round.

You have to make a new college preferance list for this round as well and pay additional fees which will be later adjusted.
