TOEFL or Test of English as a Foreign Language, is not a course. It is an exam which is used to measure the English language proficiency of candidates.

English language proficiency proof generally required for:

• Admission to foreign universities
• Immigration purposes

Therefore, TOEFL test scores can be used to satisfy the English language proficiency requirements for the above mentioned purposes. The TOEFL test evaluates a candidates proficiency in English in 4 different parameters which are reading, writing, listening and speaking.

The TOEFL exam is administered in 3 different formats which are:

• TOEFL PBT (Paper based test) : Scored on a 310 - 677 point scale.
• TOEFL iBT (internet based test) : Scored on a 0 - 120 point scale.
• TOEFL CBT (computer based test) : Scored on a 0 - 300 point scale.
