IES is one of the toughest competitive exam that ensures a job with great career progression and recognition in the society.
IES is the gateway to a stable career in the government sector. You can get a secure job in government sector.
For Selection, You will have to appear in the Engineering Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Graduates in engineering/technolog are eligible to apply for the examination.
Selection process of the examination is a 3 stage process consisting of
- Preliminary,
- Mains and
- Interview/Personality Test.
You will have to first qualify the prelims exam, then you will be eligible for mains exam. based on the performance in prelims and mains, candidates are called for an interview.
The Engineering Services Exam is a combined competitive examination conducted in four categories-
1. Civil Engineering
2. Electrical Engineering
3. Mechanical Engineering
4. Electronics and Telecommunication
The Preliminary Examination comprises two objective type papers - first, the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Paper (Paper-I) and second, the Engineering Discipline specific paper (Paper-II).
Preliminary examination is of 500 marks.
After Prelims, there will be Mains exam. The Engineering Services Main exam comprises two conventional type papers each in engineering disciplines with a duration of three hours.
Candidates obtaining minimum qualifying marks in prelims and mains exam will be selected for the personality test.
For cracking the exam, you will have to prepare a strategy and follow a thorough prparation process. You also need consistent and dedicated studies during the B.Tech programme.
