Hello,
Unsaturated compounds are the compounds of elements carbon and hydrogen having atleast one double or triple bond between them.
There are mainly two types of unsaturated hydrocarbons:
Alkenes: These are the compounds which possess a double bond between them. E.x.: propylene, ethylene etc. These are mainly used in industrial processes.
Alkynes: These are the unsaturated hydrocarbons which possess a triple bond between them. Due to their ability to undergo chemical reactions, they are widely used in chemical industries.
E.x. : Propyne, Ethyne
