what is volatile liquid. explain
Hi,
Liquids are classified into two types of liquids based on their vapour pressure.
1) volatile liquid
2) Non volatile liquid.
A volatile liquid is one which has high vapour pressure. It is evaporated rapidly.
example includes acetone, hexane, chloroform etc.
Hope you understood what are the volatile liquid.
Volatile liquid is a substance that evaporates quickly, sometimes at room temperature. No substantial external heating or heat treatment is required to evaporate a volatile liquid.
For example, water boils/evaporates at 100 degree Celsius, which is definitely not achievable at room temperature. Hence, water is not a volatile liquid.
Consider ethanol, or perfume. It evaporates as soon as it is let out of a container. Therefore it is a volatile liquid.
- Volatile liquid is a liquid that evaporates at room temperature, or vaporizes easily , If I tell you in another words, any substance is said to be volatile if it boils at a low temperature, changing from theliquid to the gas phase.
- Some examples of volatile liquid includes perfumes, alcohol, air freshener, acetones such as fingernail polish remover.
- Volatile liquids can be seen as liquids when they are exposed to low temperature or high pressures. At high temperature or low pressure, they turn to gas.
I hope that it helps you :-)
Good luck
Thankyou
