Candidates with good rank in NTA CSIR NET can pursue PhD programs & add Doctoral or Post-Doctoral degrees to their portfolios. By opting a PhD degree, you can gain expertise in your field of science like: Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry or any other field.
After PhD you may take up Teaching Responsibilities with Various Institutions in India or Opportunities with the R&D Industry. You may perhaps go for a Post Doc to some of the Higher Institutions abroad or in India like Top IITs, IISc, IISERs for couple of years and hence a career in research or academia. This is what most of the PhDs do, however you may take up opportunities with CSIR Labs, ISRO, DRDO, BARC, Other Research Instituitions and PSUs in India subject to Vacancies.
