What kind of placements will I get if I do metallurgy engineering in nit trichy.what can I do with this b.tech degree in future.
According to your query,
Metallurgy is basically the study which deals with science of metals and study of it's domain. Now the work of a metallurgy engineer develops materials using appilcatuons which you will study during this four years and then you have to apply them for creating materials for aircrafts, automobiles, etc. Basically a work of mechanical engineer. Now it is of good scope in India. This degree is very helpful in future because as the pace of work is increasing for making aircrafts, ships, automobiles so accordingly it is helpful.
Hope you find it useful.
Thank you.

Hey there
Metallurgy is an evergreen branch and the seats for metallurgy is less compared to other branches like mechanical, electrical etc. Also nit Trichy is the top nit and so if you are getting metallurgy there grab it. If you are interested in core sectors then you will get a good placement from there in core companies also as everyone knows that Sundar Pichai was also from metallurgy and he got a job in Google so even though you want companies like Google Microsoft etc still this will be good chance for you.
Good luck
It varies year to year but I'll try to put it in brief:
In short NIT trichy have very good placements for metallurgical and materials engineering :
Out of batch of around 60, people looking for placements every year comes to around 40.
Rest of the people either go for higher studies or have some other plans in mind. ( For HS, material science {notice not metallurgy} is a very good branch as per my knowledge. Most of the people go into material science related fields and into very good universities)
Out of 40 interested, arond 30 get placed usually. I can't reveal how these numbers work due to confidentiality.
Companies which usually open for meta students fall in these categories
- Core Meta (steel/aluminium )
- Auto mobile (a few)
- Analytics (almost all)
- Software & others (few)
In terms of number of companies opening for meta guys, it's minimum out of all branches.
So, you'll need to convert in those selected shots you get. You'll have many chances though throughout the year though. Not very easy but not difficult also if you've put in some efforts.
