Well, according to me older IITs namely IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT BHU, IIT Roorkee, IIT KGP, IIT Guwahati are considered as good IITs.



To get decent branches such as CSE, MnC, ECE, EE, ME at these IITs requires a rank under3K.



New IITs (Hyderabad, Indore, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Patna) are doing quite well, at these IITs you can get mech or Civil till 5K rank.



So aim for the rank to be below 3K to get into IIT.
