Hello Aspirant,

If you are really keen on getting into Masters you can go for MS Masters of Science or M.Tech

For this one should be giving GATE ( Graduate Aptitute Test in Engineering)

If you are a diploma holder, you should first get into a degree course. Once you have completed your diploma you can get admission in direct second year after that your degree will get completed in Engineering within next three years after which you can go for masters.

Dear Manish,

Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering has a good future scope in current industrial situations. You can either go for higher studies or you can directly apply for job in both government organisations and private organisations depending on the skills required.

Since you have asked for higher studies, let me share with you the available options

1. BCA

2. B.Tech

3. B.Tech + M.Tech/MBA dual degree courses.

I would not suggest to join BCA, but B.Tech course is a very good option. One added advantage of completing diploma in Computer Science and Engineering is you are directly eligible for Lateral Entry in B.Tech course , meaning, you will be admitted in 2nd year directly , hence you can gaduate with a B.Tech degree in 3 years.

Now admissions to B.Tech Lateral entry programs is not available in many of the top institues like IITS, NITs etc, but there are many good governemnt and private colleges that gives you a chance to get admission into B.Tech. Few of them are listed below:

1. DTU (B.Tech Lateral Entry and Everning Batch):

Delhi Technical University(DTU) is one of the finest engineering college to get admission into. Every year, in May/June they publish notification for B.tech Lateral Entry and Evening Batch, for which only diploma holders are eligible.

The lateral entry is availabe in

  • Biotechnology (BT)
  • Engineering Physics (EP)
  • Environmental Engineering (ENE)
  • Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (MAM)
  • Polymer Science & Chemical Technology (PCT)

Sad news is there no computer science here, but good news is diploma holders in any branch of engineering can apply for any of the above branches. The exam is DTU LEET .

You can find more details here: http://dtu.ac.in/

2. IPU Lateral Entry:

GGSIPU (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasta University) is a state funded university delhi and its also runs lateral entry course which gives direct admissions in second year, third semester of B.Tech .

GGSIPU has some of the very good colleges in Delhi and it is one of the best option after DTU. Added advantage is if you are can take admission into it desptie of you are a domicile of delhi or not.

The exam is IPU CET (IPU Common Entrance Test), notifications are out in March/April and exams are in May / June.

You can find all the details here: http://www.ipu.ac.in/pubinfo/admission2018/adm2018main.htm

Have a look at previous year admission brochure, you have to search for LEBTECH in the brochure, for all details.

3. State Engineering Entrance exams:

Almost all the states in India conducts Engineering entrance exams for admission to B.Tech / B.Tech+Mtech/MBA programs in colleges in respective states. You can find the details regarding that depending on your state. Just google state engineering entrance_ you state name .

Some of these exams are UPSEEE in Uttar Pradesh, REAP in Rajasthan, GUJCET in Gujarat, WBJEE in West Bengal etc.

4. Private Universities:

Many private universities also gives admission into B.Tech Lateral Entry programs, most of them conducts their own entrance exams, and many gives admission even directly. Some of the top universities for the same are:

  • Lovely Professional University, Ludhiana
