If you are interested in biotechnology after 12th than you can go for B. Tech Biotechnology.
Eligibility criteria for pursuing B. Tech biotechnology in most of the top universities :
pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology) and you might have to qualify some entrance test, depending upon the university you choose.
Biotechnology course is all about using concepts of Biology for tweaking and modifying biological systems, cell structures, biological processes etc so that they can be used in Engineering and Technology related applications to improve and enrich various sectors such as healthcare, food processing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals etc and solve problems arising in these sectors.
The admissions toB.Tech Biotechnologyis done either through a Common Entrance Test (CET)or merit based direct admission. Merit list is based on the marks obtained in 10+2. The application form for entrance exam is available from the month of February to March. The general process is explained in the figure below.
After a B.Tech degree, students can find jobs in:
Reliance Biotech, and many others and institutions in India.
Since India is still developing, it is highly recommended that you do your B.Tech in a reputed institution for good campus placements and job opportunities. If your university is not reputed, chances of any biotech company coming for placements will be zero.
