In Special round or spot round conducted by CSAB , due to reservation system the seats are divided into these categories.  And after the counselling of JOSAA whatever seats are left those are filled with CSAB round. The rank used for then are general rank but the specific seat are allotted only to that category students.

Hi . As per your query, the spot rounds are first of all conducted by CSAB and not by JOSAA. Secondly, regarding the ranks , your CRL is considered for the special rounds(spot rounds). Your category rank is assumed only by the JOSAA in its normal counseling.

If you are general category then your CRL and category rank will be same, but if your are from OBC/SC/ST category then for JoSAA your category rank will be used for counselling. You will have to fill many choices of branches and institutions.

Every year csab special round counselling is done for filling the vacant seat into NITs, IIITs, gftis and IIEST. Now in CSAB special round counselling your CRL rank is used for counseling and seat allocation. Because as per the previous year cutoff Trends I have also observed that all the ranks written in each category are not the category ranks, it's the CRL ranks for every category. So that means this year too, csab special round counseling will be based on your CRL rank .
