For general category students, the opening  rank required was approx 3700 and closing rank was 5284.

Marks cannot be predicted on ranks but roughly, 225 marks or 61 percent is must.

The amount of efforts and amount of dedication you out in shall correspond to results you achieve.

As per many toppers, the important aspect is time management where many of them devote 6 hours daily for studies and 1 hour for revision and mocks of the chapters dey cover.

Some great Preparation tips shared below.

There are abundantf books available in the market, However some top Books for indepth Preparation are shared below.

Physics:-

Chmeistry:-

Organic Chemistry by O.P. Tandon

Numerical Chemistry by P.Bahadur

Mathematics:-

Maths XI & XII by R.D. Sharma

All the above books have been recommended by various toppers.

Some top critical things toook out for are shared below:--

1. Solve numerical problems as many as possible

At least try to solve 60 problems from day 1 including PCM.

Solvibg atleast 200 questions from each important chapter will eliminate your doubts.

2. Always note down your mistakes

Keep track of your efforts so you never commit the same mistake repetitively.

3. Make a target Goal for every day

Its good to have a target so you know what youre working towards. Always aim to achieve that and strive forward to achieve bigger and better.

4. Develop a subject-wise strategy

Spend more time with difficult subject as there is more scope for improvement and keep resolvibg doubts ubtill they are cleared.

5. Fight until exam ends and persist your efforts.

Give your best till the end. Do not give up if you're scoribg low, have patienece it will pay you Big.

6. Target the difficult parts of the syllabus

Focus first on the difficult topics along with concise, crisp, easy-to-look up notes. make sure your evise those notes untill you dont committ same msitakes.

7.Analyze previous year paper pattern

Strategise your study plan accordingly based on the previous years patterns and weightages and how much time you devote to each question.

Golden Tip:--

Analyse Mock exams to identify weak areas and devote timefor solved problems from the books on such topics, try to revise them regularly such that your weakness becomes your strength.

In 2017, cut off rank for civil engineering in IIT, Guwahati was:
General category - 5284
OBC NCL- 1784 (Category rank)
SC- 958 (Category rank)
ST- 308 (Category rank)

It is difficult to predict cut off marks in JEE Advanced as exam pattern and total marks changes every year.

You should try to get 40% of total marks in JEE Advanced to get rank under 5000 and 50-55% of total marks to get rank under 2000 rank (for general category).
