Hello Aspirant,
Rank of 400 in JEE Mains paper 2 is good but it is like doing very hard work than only you can get it . so i will tell you normal range where you get any best government college which you like.
If you are an general candidate a score around 240–250 will take you in a safe zone and you will get a NIT for sure
If you are an Obc candidate then a score around 215 would be enough
For further information there are questions form mathematics general aplitude architectural aplitude and drawing…so the general and architectural aplitude contains 50 question and one can easily answer 40-45 among them.. Giving a score of around 180.. Then the drawing part that contains 70 marks with 2 or 3 questions you can score 30–40 if you can draw and if you are a pro then a score around 50 would be a cup of cake.. And the most difficult part is the maths part.. Containing 30 questions.

Your percentile needs to in range 98-99 to get 400 rank. for general category, it may be 99 percentile. many candidates may have same percentile value but no one has same rank. for those cases, there is tie-breaking rules on the basis of which rank is made and many factors are also considered.
In terms of marks/score, you have to score above 90% of the total score so that your rank will be below 500. it will be more difficult for general category. if you have any reservation category then you categorical rank can be below 500 if your general rank is in range 3k-5k.
