Hi there.

Your question is very open ended and I'd say it is sort of vague. You haven't mentioned your interests, your past scores in exams, your hobbies. It is difficult to help someone choose their subjects for higher studies without knowing their personal details, dreams and aspirations.

Anyway, I would like to present an extremely simplistic picture here that might help you choose your high school studies' subjects.

First of all, you must be aware of the fact that there are 3 broad categories of subjects to be choosen from. These are Science, Commerce and Arts/Humanities.

In Class XI - XII, Science would consists of subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics.

Take science if you liked the above subjects till Class X. From broad calculations to knowing every little thing about the universe, science is endless and the plethora of opportunities you will have after taking science is limitless. From the traditional and most sought after courses of Medical and Engineering you could go for Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food & Nutrition, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Aeronautics etc.

Under Commerce, comes Mathematics, Accountancy, Economics, Business studies. This would help you in getting knowledge of the basic management principles, the cost and taxing systems, marketing trends and principles, basically everything that runs around money is where commerce is. If you have interest in business, management, marketing, finances, taxes, etc. then without any doubt in your mind go ahead with this one. You could opt for CA, CS, CFA, MBA, Banking etc. after completing Class XII in Commerce.

Finally comes Humanities/Arts that constitutes History, Geography, Political Science, English and optional subjects like Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Philosophy etc. If you had interest in such subjects til Class X then you might choose this one. Later from professorships to research jobs all options will be open to you, depending on the subject you choose later for higher studies.

Many competitive examinations like CLAT/LLB, Banking, Railways etc. can be written with any subject.

Just be open, assess your capabilities, interest and Aptitude and choose wisely!

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

choosing right course or stream after your 10th is important.

These below mentioned  courses after your 10th:

1)11th and 12th puc

2) diploma in engineering courses

3)ITI courses

i suggest ITI course is the best and high rated course which in recent trends has more demand

The main objective of ITI is to enhance knowledge regarding technical skills and industrial skills.

ITI stands for Industrial Training Institute.

Hello Jai,

Thanks for contacting Careers360.

Class 10th plays a very pivotal role in anyone's life. It that point of time where you have to choose the stream of your choice. Every stream has its own charm and value. Some people may stereotype, saying Science always has an upper hand on Commerce or Arts, whereas some others might defend the statement, saying Arts is for artists and deep thinkers and Commerce is for analytical brainers.

COMMERCE

Most popular stream among the students after 10th standard is Commerce. The reason behind such this stream is featuring with name and fame both. It is featured with most reputed jobs that everyone wants to grab.

Commerce stream has a plenty of career options available like Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary, Chief Financial Accountant, Finance consultant, Financial Planner, Banking Jobs, Actuary, Foreign Trade, Stock Broking, Cost, and Works Accountant, Finance Manager, Portfolio Manager, Economist etc.Core subjects taught in Commerce stream are Business studies, Accountancy, Business Economics.

SCIENCE

Students dreaming to become a doctor, engineer, scientist choose science stream which is featured with many inspiring career options.

Students choosing science must be clear about their goal before choosing this subject as it has limited career options. Careers like Medical, Engineering, Physician has an awe-inspiring payouts but they need a long duration, high investment as well as full dedication. But if you are really dedicated towards your goal, then go for it. Subjects featured in Science stream are Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, IP, electronics etc. Choose your subject and complete your passion.

Arts

The craze for this subject has been reduced with the passage of time but you should know that Arts is still featuring with many spellbinding career opportunities such as social works, fashion designer, interior designer, literature, social works, journalism etc.

Students who are interested in creativity should go for Arts. Although, jobs are very limited in such if you are creative and love innovations then surely you can start your own business in a very short span.

Core subjects in Arts stream are sociology, history, literature, psychology, political science, philosophy, economics etc.

You should choose any of the streams according to your interest.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!!

Hello jai, Hope you're doing well.

It's great that you are worried about your future as most students plans when its too late.

But you don't need to get stressed. Just be calm and think what you want to do, what is your field of interest.

Don't just follow your mates, do what you like to do. Follow your passion.

Now this doesn't mean that things you feel are easy can be chosen as a career option.

Just remember that even if you want to become a games, you need a lot more hard work even if you want to be a gamer and I mean it.

So the thing is do what you like but do it with your whole passion and be loyal towards your work and you will surely come up with flying colors.

All the very best..

Hey Jai

You must choose the subjects of your interest.

If you find fun in mathematics or if you want to business ahead commerce field is best for you. If you choose commerce select maths with it (it gives you many options in it) You can do specialisation ahead.

But if you like science , the chemical reactions, biology , physics then go for it.Thats a smart choice but really needs hard work.

Moreover the new emerging Humanities stream which gives you new career options. If you are in Arts, if you want to become IPS OFFICER , a teacher , politician .This subject will be usefull.

Wish you luck :)
