Hello,

The eligibility of UPSC is passed graduation in any stream from a recognized university, you need to attain 21 years and can apply in the final year as well, there's no specific aggregate required here.

Now, coming to your question, see the obvious answer will be choosing a medical will prove to be more tiring as you'll more busy with your academic schedule compared to perhaps graduation in other science stream subject, but then let me tell you many medical aspirants too have qualified for this exam, of course it depends on how you plan your preparation whether you start from the final year itself or after graduation, and both the subjects of agriculture and medical science are there in the optional paper of UPSC, so you won't find it difficult to deal with at least the optional paper as it's syllabus is nothing short of graduation and you're already acquainted with that.

UPSC doesn't discriminate among aspirants, hence people from diverse background appear for this exams, as I already told you medical aspirants too have qualified for this exam, so you shouldn't at any point feel if you choose this field you cannot succeed in UPSC, eventually it's all about your planning, preparation, dedication and single-minded focus. Also, in case of UPSC, it's good to have a back up plan, both the fields you mentioned are very good, choose what more interests you, and don't be in hurry, you can start your UPSC preparation even in gradual manner from the first year itself like reading The Hindu on a daily basis or going through NCERT books in your free time, this will make your foundation strong, most candidates irrespective of their discipline whether it's engineering, medical or any other, start their preparation from the final year itself.

So, choose a career which you find interesting enough to spend your precious four-five and half years studying that course, if you find yourself solely focused on cracking UPSC perhaps agriculture is the best option as it will also save your one and half year, if you have plans to explore the medical domain other than UPSC, choose medical science, gain some experiences in this field and later if you feel you want to try for UPSC, then go for it. This will also provide you a holistic viewpoint of the domain of medical, and your experiences will definitely help as Civil Servant is all about welfare of people and the  entire society at large scale.

Hi Apoorva,

If you have a great intrest towards upsc then it doesn't matter if you choose agriculture or medical as your ug courses.

All you have to do is manage good time for both your college as well as upsc preprations without any stress or worry.

Just stay calm and choose wisely.

Good luck.
