Hello,

Studying in abroad countries like the U.S. you won’t get any college which offers 100% scholarship on the tuition fee. But they have a huge amount of financial assistance options (scholarships) for international students.

GRE is generally required by universities in North America (the USA and Canada). It can be a mere admission formality or a selection criterion for jobs as well.

  • The GRE revised General Test is available at more than 1,000 test centres in more than 160 countries. In most regions of the world, online test is available on a continuous basis throughout the year.
  • The validity of score: 5 years after testing year.
  • Fee for registering in India is Rs 12,000. You'll require a passport for being eligible for the exam.

TOEFL is a standardised test to judge one's English language abilities.

  • Mostly taken by non-native speakers of the language who wish to take admission in foreign universities. A few immigration departments use the score to issue residential and work visas as well.
  • More than 9000 colleges in 130 countries accept TOEFL scores, including the top 100 in the US. Over 27 million people all over the world have taken the test.
  • The validity of score: Valid for 2 years.
  • The fees for taking the test in India is approximately Rs 11,500.

How to prepare:

  • Buy the required books for preparation of both the entrances.
  • Familiarize with the pattern of questions.
  • Try doing sample papers.
  • Build your vocabulary and writing style.
  • You can read as much of literary fiction as possible and English newspapers as well.
  • Answer one analytical writing question every day.
  • The longer your essays are, the more mark you can score. But, you will have only 30 minutes for each question, so learn to type fast while thinking.
  • For Quantitative Section: The questions are from basic math  ie.  algebra, geometry, trigonometry and some statistics. Practising regularly from different aptitude books will help.

The higher you score in GRE, the better scholarship you can expect. English proficiency exam scores (TOEFL and IELTS) are important too for admission, but not for scholarships.

Good marks in the intermediate or EAMCET wouldn’t matter much if work on your extracurricular points during the B.Tech course you can participate in many activities, social services which can add on to your CV. Also, aim for scoring well in the semesters along with your preparation. In the end, a good GRE and TOEFL score is going to beat all your other shortcomings.

Hope it helps!

Thank you and all the best.
