what should i opt-Chemical engineering at Nit Rourkela or chemical engineering at Nit Warangal. Please help me out. I am confused.
In terms of infrastructure, both nits are excellent for chemical engineering courses. The faculty are extremely supportive of both, and both colleges have several amenities.
In NIT Warangal, 75 percent of students were placed in chemical engineering, with the top package being about 19 lpa and the average being around 7 lpa, but in NIT Rourkela, the average package is 5 lpa and the highest is 12 lpa.
Hello Joy,
Firstly, both the institutes are very good in most of the aspects. The Chemical Engineering branch also has a great scope ahead.
I would like to skip through all the other discussions such as the infrastructure facilities available or branch specific queries and talk about what most of the students give more importance to: 'Placements and what later after graduation?'
1) Placements and Salary : Being clear with all the experience i have had in the past 4 years as an undergraduate at IITM, Chemical engineering branch definitely has one of the best opportunities in the Core (specific to Chemical engineering) as well as the Non-core fields (All other fields such as IT, Analytics, Consultancy which one may opt to go for, irrespective of the branch being Chemical engineering). It is often the case that on-campus Placements offer better packages and number of companies in reputed colleges. Also, the salary offered by companies may vary for different colleges even if the recruitment is being done for the same role. I personally believe that NIT Warangal would have an upper hand here.
2) Higher Studies : If you wish to opt for higher studies after graduation, it is greatly helpful to have a degree from a good college and recommendations from reputed Professors. Also, sometimes one may require coaching facilities for preparation of these entrance exams. NIT Warangal being located in an urban area, such facilities would be easily available unlike NIT Rourkela which is situated at a remote area with lack of such facilities.
Considering all such things, it would be recommended to go for NIT Warangal.
One thing to note here is, more than the reputation of the institute a student comes from, the Knowledge and Skill sets of that particular student matter the most later on while placements, admission for higher studies and all other places you would go for after graduation. Thus, keep working hard and focus on developing the skills which the industry demands, no matter which institute you are from.
