Hi, hope you’re well!

An MBA helps you to think objectively, articulate yourself clearly, work as part of a team, cope with high-stress circumstances, anticipate future challenges, and, of course, delegate properly. The fast-paced learning environment inspires continuous growth on many levels and it changes who you are as a person.

Here are skills you must focus on during your MBA:

Leadership Skills: They are not something that can be taught in a classroom or learned from a book; they must be absorbed and established by experience. This is an ability that you can hone while in business school. The ability to manage a community and make insightful decisions even in a difficult situation makes you a good leader.

How to develop:

- Take on projects that enable you to come up with and implement creative solutions to problems . You may consider actively engaging in competitions, activities, clubs, and committees.

- You must experience guiding others through challenging experiences relying on your influential leadership skills. For instance, impacting the community and contributing towards the society.

- Your decisiveness is implicitly linked to your initiative. Take the initiative to make choices that others would not.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills: For communication skills fluency is essential, but so is the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people while maintaining good eye contact. You must have a diverse vocabulary and adapt your language to your audience, listen attentively, express your ideas simply and concisely, and work well as a group.

Interpersonal Skills: Also referred to as social skills, people skills, soft skills, or life skills. It includes the ability to interact efficiently as well as the ability to monitor and regulate your emotions. When working in groups, interpersonal skills are important, particularly when communicating, persuading, or influencing others.

How to develop:

- Pay attention to the words you use. Active listening, questioning, fluency, clarity of mind, and asking for inputs from your colleagues are all good practises.

- Recognize your body language, tone of voice, and rate of speed and speech.

- Understand others' feelings and body language, as well as when it's appropriate to talk.

Presentation Skills: Presentation skills are the abilities to make compelling presentations to a range of audiences that are both effective and engaging.

How to develop:

- Successful presentations rely on factors such as the number of slides, visual aids, writings, and the use of transitions.

- Understand the target audience's characteristics and create messages that are more easily interpreted by them.

- Learn what to say, when to say it, and how to engage the audience with an introduction, feedback, questions, and a conclusion.

- Rehearse but don't try to memorise the presentation.

Negotiation Skills: They are the abilities to negotiate an agreement between two or more parties. Communication, persuasion, preparation, strategizing, and cooperating are few requirements of this soft skill.

How to develop:

- You may learn the process and basics through classroom mode learning.

- Join clubs and committees, participate in MUNs, arrange sponsorships and fundraising for events, take responsibility for closing deals (whenever possible) and participate in mock projects.

Networking: It is the process of establishing and maintaining a network of contacts, and it must be done on a regular basis to be efficient. Getting to know new people and keeping in touch with old ones, on the other hand, requires effort.

How to develop:

- The B-schools host regular inter-college and industry combined events, which offer excellent opportunities to interact and network with people who share common goals and interests.

Team Building and People Management Skills: Knowing how to help people function as a cohesive community where all participants feel involved in the team's direction and successes is what team building is all about.

How to develop:

- Engage in activities requiring team-based group activities. Closely observe your interpersonal conduct and be open to receiving feedback. Improve yourself in areas as needed.

Problem Solving Skills and Analytical Skills: Problem-solving skills encourage you to find out why something is happening and how to fix it. Problem-solving abilities support you in efficiently and effectively addressing problems.

The ability to collect and analyse data, solve problems, and make decisions are all examples of analytical abilities. Here, it also requires creativity, emotional intelligence and solution oriented approach. You must develop a systematic, critical and logical thinking process.

How to develop:

- These skills are taught in business schools through case studies, role plays, and situational criteria. Brainstorming methods such as mind mapping, six thought caps, SWOT analysis, and others are taught here.

- Examine daily problems with a "what if" mindset, in which you doubt the current approach and ponder about what could happen if a new one were introduced.

- Engage in activities that require you to mediate a confrontation, solve real-life issues, or plan events.

Pressure Resilience and Time Management: The ability of a person to respond to pressure and the demands of everyday life is referred to as resilience. It is the capacity to respond to stressful, adversity, or pressure conditions.

The ability to use the time productively and effectively is known as time management. If you struggle to prioritise tasks and events in your everyday life or find yourself procrastinating often, you need to improve your time management skills.

How to develop:

- Develop priority work patterns and a strategic mentality. Reduced anxiety can free up more working memory and increase morale, in addition to the normal benefits of stress management and resilience practises.
