If you want to become software engineer I'll advise you to choose computer science engineering. But the branch need coding skills of good level to be a good software engineer as other branch students also apply for software jobs so you need to be good at coding.

If you want to become a software engineer then you have to study btech in computer science and even you can opt for IT stream in BTech .  But I hope you are aware of this that you need to study or have a subject computer science either IT in your class 12th  and you should also have maths in your class 12th if not CS or IT.  Maths is a compulsory subject if you want to persue btech in any stream.
