What stream should i take after 10th?
After class 10th, you have an option to pursue one of the following streams in any Indian Education Board:
- Science (Medical/Non-Medical)
- Humanities
- Commerce
Now, you have to clearly evaluate your interests before choosing the subject. Make sure to go through the detail and scope of each of these subjects rather than just listening about them from a fellow or a friend. After you have known what is it you get of these subjects, then ask yourself what is your inclination towards, which subject suits you and in which field you can work up to your full potential.
Hope you are doing well!
Now let's go through your question.
Remember that every stream has its own charm and value. Some people may stereotype, saying Science always has an upper hand on Commerce or Arts, whereas some others might defend the statement, saying Arts is for artists and deep thinkers and Commerce is for analytical brainers.
After 10th grade, Science is usually categorised into : pure and basic science. Pure Science includes Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (i.e., PCM). Sometimes PCM includes Biology as well and is known as PCMB. And Basic Science includes Physics, Chemistry and Biology (i.e., PCB).
And if you choose Commerce with Business, you will study the following subjects: Accounts, Finance, Business & Maths and Commerce. And choosing this course might help you to study BBA, B.Com or BA in Economics, CFA, CA, ICWA and CFP abroad.
Ideally, after 10th grade if you have to choose Arts, you will have several options such as English, History, Political Science, Geography, Literature, Economics, Public Administration, Social Science, Fine Arts and sometimes Math could be also considered as an Arts subject.
Yes, you can pursue not only a diploma but also several certification courses after your 10th standard. They would count up to for few months to a year or so and can be a great addition to your knowledge and prove to be an asset in your fashion designing future ahead.
Though right after 10th, you are not eligible to pursue Bachelors Degree courses. This means that there are only two choices available in front of 10th passed students-
- Diploma courses
- Certificate courses
These are the two course formats available in front of you, if want to study fashion designing courses after 10th.

Thank You & All the best!
Hey Amisha.
Admission in top institutes for Fashion Designing would be through entrance exams. So it would be good to take such a stream which will complement your entrance syllabus.
The entrances usually test based on Your general ability and Creative ability. The topics which can be- Quantitative ability, Effective communication, General knowledge and current affairs, Communication ability and English comprehension, Leadership qualities Case study, Problem-solving approach Analytical and logical ability. And your drawing sketching and other skills will be tested in Creative ability. So Arts seem to be the best choice for this stream. Other than that even candidates from commerce and sciences stream can attempt fashion designing entrances and take admission in these courses.
Best of luck
