Well, the first year subjects are Anatomy, Bio-Chemistry and Physiology. Chaurasia is mostly preferred among Indian Medical Students for its easy to understand language. I studied Gray's Anayomy because I found its English and way of presenting each topic fascinating. Again its based on individual preferences. Guyton is also a very good book for Physiology. These are books by International authors are costly. You can find them in college library as well. Your faculty can recommend you books by Indian Authors as well. And what you need to carry from Day 1 is confidence that you can come clear after 5 and 1/2 years because you got a seat in a Medical College under heavy competition.
