what to do when u want to be ca in usa?
Hello,
When you become a CA, you have a lot of possibilities in India and even outside of it. Some of the possibilities that arise are:
- Applying for a job in the United States. To get this, you'll need the right connections and network. However, if you are chosen, the firm will cover all of your visa and travel expenses. In practise, this will take some time, but having a CPA degree on your resume will increase your prospects.
- Joining a US-based company or an Indian consulting firm in India that specialises in projects in the United States would make you a regular flier to the United States. Bain & Company, BCG, and others are examples of such firms. And, if you've gained expertise and built a network in the United States, finding a full-time job there won't be difficult.
- Joining the Big Four and accepting a one- to three-year secondment to the United States is possible, but finding and waiting for the appropriate profile might take time. My friends have gone on secondments to the UK and other countries, but only after 2–3 years of experience. In this case, your profile is also important. Foreign projects and travel are part of consulting, risk advisory, forensic, and M&A.
It can be summarized as simple two-step procedure
- You need to do US CPA (the highest level of accounting accreditation in the United States)
- Try for a secondment / job with the Big 4s or US-based CPA firms / MNCs.
Hope it helped
Thank you
