Hello Sanjay,
Congratulations for such a great results.
IITs and NITs both are the renouned technical institutes of India. It takes lots of hard work and patience to get into this institutes. Both are the government funded institute. It doesn't matter a much if which branch you get admission in IITs or NITs as they are the superior institutes for technical education.
At IITs the students are not prepared only according to their branch but they are given knowledge of every branch and are trained for every kind of work .
IITs and NITs are the brands for the technical education in India where every engineering aspirant wants to go but only few could make it.
I would rather suggest you to go for a lower branch at old IITs that a higher branch at NIT. As whatever we say IIT still remains superior than NITs . Though there are NITs which are upto the level of IIts also .but then too selecting an IIT would be a better option .
Also there is a option of branch upgradation in the next year so if you perform good then you can also upgrade your branch to the desired one. So It matters on you also how you perform there.
At IITs companies does not come to recruit from a single branch but all students are allowed to sit for placement collectively and the student with a better skill is selected first irrespective of his/ her branch.
Therefore I would suggest you to go for IIT rather than NIT.
Hope this helps.
For any queries feel free to ask.
All the best!!
Regards.
