Biotechnology as a professional course deals with bioprocesses in engineering, medicine, technology, and other fields requiring bioproducts.  It is done through the use of living organisms.

After completing both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Biotechnology over a period of six years and having acquired the basic minimum experience as an intern, one has a plethora of career opportunities to choose ranging from Lab Technician, Marketing Manager, Medical Representative, Quality Control Officer, Research Associate, Research Scientist, Analyst, Chemical Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Safety Specialist, Lecturer or Teacher at University or College level, etc. One can also work in Clinical Sciences Laboratories and Pharma Marketing Companies.

Initially the salary packages for a Biotechnologist range from INR 1 Lakhs per annum - INR 3 Lakhs per annum, varying from companies to companies. However, with experience, the figures may rise upto INR 10 Lakhs per annum.
