First of all you need to understand that don't compare min percentile from last year to this year because percentile is not the only thing which gives you call from IIMs or get u selected.

After CAT exam every IIM makes a merit list to call students for next round of interview and WSAT which is based on your aggregate score which comprises of many factors such as CAT marks, 10th 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non engineer, gender with different weightages for different colleges. In this generally CAT marks weightage is around 35-60%.

So you see what I meant to say is you need to have a strong profile also to get a call from IIMs and if not then you need to cover up that loss from your high CAT percentile. After 2nd round again a new merit list is made including interview and WSAT marks which along with CAT marks generally have highest weightage and is used to call students for admission.

Now if you want to talk about percentile cut off seeing the trend from past few years to get calls from top IIMs like IIM A B and C you need to score 90+ percentile. For further old IIMs like IIM L, K and I you need to score atleast above 85+ percentile in order to get a call. And 80+ percentile will ensure you to get a call from all New IIMs. Again all these percentiles are tentative depending on your profile so you need to always aim fir higher percentile which also helps you in selection in later stage. Also there are some IIMs which even after getting high percentile is difficult to get a call like IIM Kozhikode and Bangalore which gives high weightage to work experience and IIM Indore which gives more weightage to academic records even more than CAT marks.

So work hard aim for high percentile in CAT exam. All the best for your preparations and exams!!
