see , its not a easy decision to choose a career, as you are interested in b.tech first of all I can tell you that there is numerous number of engineering colleges in india, but not all have standard infrastructure, experienced faculty and placement opportunity for students. you may find some colleges that you can easily take admission with out having appear in any entrance test, so you need to find the colleges which has really excellent placement record and infrastructure. now coming to entrance test, jee main is the all india common engineering entrance test. there is also many more entrance test available state wise and institution wise. you may follow the below link to know about engineering entrance test,

for best college in india you must go for iit institutions you can go through iit jee exams and these are also the applicable for nit and iiit.
you can also go for many private universitieswhich provide their self entrance exams
