First its a service to the Nation and not just job, after completing training at NDA you will be sent to respective training academy based on your choice and merit list like army, navy, air force.

After completing around 1.5 year training you will be granted permanent commission in the service , in army at the rank of lieutenant, which is Group A gazetted officer.

The salary will start form level 10 as per 7th pay commission which is equivalent to IAS officers first posting. The basic would be around 56100.

There are many other allowance and perks which make this amount almost saved. as you got promotion your salary will get increases.

Promotions till the rank of colonel are time bound and you can reach colonel by the service of 26 years . You can also get to this rank well before based on the performance.

The promotions after colonel are strictly performance based as this are the commanding officers. After colonel gets promoted he gets a rank of Brigadier, which is the highest rank field officer.

After Brigadier its very touch to go above and comes the general officer.
