Don't Miss: JEE Seat Matrix
As per the JEE Advanced cut off system, Section 21 of Information Brochure states that 10% of marks are required in all the three subjects individually, along with 35% of the total marks for a position in Common Rank List.
The OBC-NCL students require 9% of marks for each subject, and overall 31.5%; while, the rest categories require 5% and 17.5% respectively. Though, this is the scheme of distribution of marks, the regular procedure of deciding the cut-offs are done on the basis of the performance of the students in the respective year.
The above mentioned cut-off is when the performance of students is satisfactory. If the student do not perform according to it, the cut-off is lowered. Like it happened in 2016. So do not worry, it is always relative.
The specified cut off for JEE Advanced 2018 has been calculated by JEE authorities on a basis of number of factors, such as:
- Previous Year’s cutoff
- Number of applicants for the exam
- Number of available seats in IITs and their annual intake
- Difficulty level of the exam.
The expected cut-off should be around 110 if deviated from the predefined percentage. I don’t think the paper was too tough.
I kept in mind that it was online for the first time. No difference.
Hope this helps.
