what would be the heart rate of a person if the cardiac output is 5L blood volume in the
Hi Bramha,
Before finding the heart rate of the person, we have to understand the relation between these three terms.
1. Heart Rate - It is the total number of beats per minute or bpm.
2. Cardiac Output - It is the volume of the blood pumped by the heart every minute.
3. Stroke Volume - It is the volume of the blood pumped by the ventricles every beat.
In short, the relation between these three will be, Cardiac Output (CO) = Heart Rate (HR) X Stroke Volume (SV).
We also have two terms that is EDV (End Diastolic Volume) and ESV (End Systolic Volume)
Stroke Volume = End Diastolic Volume - End Systolic Volume
Now,
The given values in above question are:
CO = 5 l/m
EDV = 100 ml
ESV = 50 ml
First we will find the SV => 100 - 50 = 50 ml/bt
Finding the Heart Rate, CO = HR X SV
5 l/m = HR X 50 ml/bt
5000 ml/m = HR X 50 ml/bt ( Converting L into ml)
HR = 5000/50 bt/m
HR = 100 bt/m Ans.
