Hello, B.E is bachelor of engineering and B.Tech is bachelor in technology. Some of the popular colleges for B.E are NSIT, BITS-Pilani, Anna University Chennai etc. For B.TEch Some of the popular colleges are IITs, NITs, DTU (Delhi Technological University).

B.E gives more importance on theory and fundamentals whereas B.TEch gives importance on practicals applications than theoretical. Both the courses are for 4 years.

Hope it helps you

Which one is better for job criteria? Are BE and B.Tech equivalent for job recruiters?

Key Difference between BE and B.Tech

  • The most obvious difference between the two is that BE is Bachelor of Engineering and B Tech is Bachelor of Technology.
  • The course materials as well as orientation of these programs are quite dissimilar.
  • While BE is data orientated, B.Tech is skill orientated. BE is more of a study based on theory and B.Tech is more of application engineering.

B.Tech course is somewhat more practically intensive than the BE course which is more theoretical. The difference (which is quite minor) between the two degrees can be understood from their names itself, Engineering Vs. Technology.

Engineering is a "science", dealing more with theoretical concepts & principles; technologydeals more with the application of these theories for practical purposes. But, both B.E. & B.Tech courses offered by various engineering colleges/ institutes, have similar curriculum more or less. Both degrees are valued equally by prospective employers. What matters more is the reputation of the engineering college from where you obtain your B.E/ B.Tech degree.

The course of B.E degree focuses on theoretical knowledge needed to innovate technology and make new technical gadgets. while the course of B.TECH degree focuses on application and skill based studyand is useful if one is interested in modifying structures to enhance their quality.

B.E. is considered a knowledge oriented course where more emphasis is given on the theoretical part of the curriculum while B. Tech is skill oriented which gives more emphasis on practicals

Bachelor of Engineering (B.E)

The minimum qualification needed by one to opt for this program is a pass in class 10+2. They will then have to attend for the national or state level entrance exam as to get admittance into any college that offers this course. The B.E. program concentrates more on the theoretical knowledge that is applied to develop innovative equipments and useful technical gadgets in Science and Technology. This program is pursued by many and the degree thus obtained can be of use anywhere. As mentioned earlier, the program has a time period of 4 years. Students must do a project in their concluding year.

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)

The Bachelor of Technology is a graduate level program that is offered by the majority of universities all over the world. To
