what's the difference between private college and deemed university?
Hello Richa,
Hope you're doing well.
Differences between private colleges and deemed universities:-
- Deemed universities can grant diploma/ degree to students without anyone's consent. However, Private universities need an approval from UGC before granting degrees or diplomas to students.
- Both of them can decide their own syllabus.
- Deemed universities can independently decide everything related to the course, admissions, syllabus etc. However, private universities need to adhere to UGC guidelines.
- Deemed universities have full autonomy when it comes to administration, while private universities have to follow UGC guidelines for everything related to college administration.
Thankyou
Hi, Hope you are doing well!
The private Universities have to follow a lot of norms and regulations which the Deemed universities don’t.
The main difference between a private and a deemed university is that, a deemed university is more free and flexible as compared to the Private Universities. A deemed university is a college or institution with a name of the university. Under private university, many institutes and colleges can fall, however under deemed universities, there is a single college or institution only.
Apart from that, a deemed university cannot be run only by offering course in various subjects. There has to be some research field also that should run under the university. This condition is not necessary for the private University. All a private University needs is to set up a college under it with the norms of the Human Resources Department.
The Deemed University is a university that has the right to carry on its own educational affairs. This includes the conduct of examination and set up of the syllabus. However, the private Universities have to consider a particular time for all the colleges under it.
