what's the difficulty level of maths for CAT exam and upto which class We should go for maths?
Hello Aspirant!
I guess I am a lot like you if you abhor math and struggle with it. But you are not alone, scores of people who are not good at math clear CAT exam EVERY YEAR! It is not an exam that requires you to be a genius with an off-the-charts IQ level. It is an exam that tests only and only your conceptual clarity and logical thinking. So, it is required to only study the math which has been taught till class 10th in schools. A lot of aspirants every year believe in the misconception that if one has studied math beyond class 12th, they have an edge in CAT. This is definitely not the case. If you have studied even basic math, you are in a perfectly good position to start your CAT preparation. The difficulty level is moderate to difficult. But the questions are designed in a way that they test your conceptual clarity and thought process than calculations. Consider the CAT syllabus as mentioned on the link below-

Not one topic relates to any higher-order mathematics taught above class 10th. Also, think about this for a moment - If it was the case that math above class 10th was needed, how come they are letting Arts and Commerce students apply even though some of them did not pursue math after class 10th!
Also, this is the case for all MBA entrance examinations like SNAP, XAT, IIFT, NMAT etc. In some of these exams, you can bend the rules a little and play to your strengths. For instance, I am better at VA/RC and LR/DI as compared to QA. Hence, when I wrote SNAP, I used this to my advantage and cleared SNAP. Currently, I am a first-year student at SIBM Pune!
I hope I have been able to answer your question!
Please let me know in case you need further clarification or reassurance.
