Genetic Engineering in simple words is a technique used to change the DNA of living beings. This branch enables the human mind to interfere in the process if life, birth and death and in some cases escape the dangerous congenital diseases.
The work of a genetic engineer involves extracting the DNA out of one organism, rearranging it with the help of certain chemicals and putting it back into some different organism.
An individual aspiring for a career in genetic engineering can go for a B.Tech course after his/her 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.Further eligibility criteria are as follows:-
For UG: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with minimum qualifying marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology as core subjects. Independent entrance tests for this programme are also held by the various state, central, and private universities which mostly require 50% as the prerequisite to appear for the test.
For PG: Candidates must hold a degree in Bachelor of Engineering/B.Tech in Genetic Engineering/ Biochemical Engineering along with a good score in entrance tests held for PG programme held by the various state, central, and private universities.
AIIMS also has similar eligibility criteria for admission into its Post graduate courses.
