Candidates can read the JEE Main counselling and seat allotment 2018 steps in detail as given below:Step 1 – Online Registration: Candidates will have to register themselves online by providing their JEE Main 2018 roll number and password.Step 2 - Online Choice Filling & Locking: In this step, candidates will have to fill and lock their choice of colleges and B.Tech programmes in the order of their preference as seat allotment will be done on the same basis. Step 3 - Seat Allotment: Candidates will be allotted seats in this step on the basis of their merit, choice filling and availability of seats. But, before the actual seat allotment, mock allotment of seats will take place in two rounds. This will allow candidates to know the seat allotment process and this way, they will also be able to know and choose better preferences for themselves in the main rounds.Step 4 – Payment of Fee & Seat Acceptance: After the allotment of seat, candidates will have to choose any one of the following options :Freeze – In case, candidates are satisfied with their seat allotment and do not wish to participate in the further seat allotment rounds, they will have to choose this option.Float – In case, candidates need to keep the seat allotted and also wish to upgrade their seat, they must follow this option.Slide – In this case, candidates accept the seat allotted and wish to upgrade the course in the same institute, they will have to stick to this option.Withdraw – In case, if candidates have already accepted the seat, they can withdraw the seat by reporting at the institute allotted before the last round of seat allotment.Candidates will have to pay the fees through SBI Net Banking/ e-Challan. The seat acceptance fee is Rs. 45,000 for all the candidates except SC/ ST/ SC-PwD/ ST-PwD/ GEN-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD. Candidates who belong to SC/ ST/ SC-PwD/ ST-PwD/ GEN-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD categories will have to pay Rs. 20,000 as seat acceptance fee. Step 5 – Verification of Documents: In this step, candidates will have to get their documents verified at the help centres. The following documents have to be verified by the candidates:3 passport size photographs (the same as uploaded during registration)Provisional JoSAA seat allotment letterPhoto identity cardProof of seat acceptance fee paymentJEE Main 2018 Admit CardDate of birth proofJEE Main 2017 Score CardClass XII Mark sheetCategory certificate (if applicable)Step 6 – Final Reporting at the Allotted Institute: Candidates will have to report at the institute allotted after verification of documents.
