Hi Akash,



TNEA stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. It is conducted by the Anna University, and offers admissions to candidates in 563 participating Institutions. The admission to various Engineering and Technology courses will be solely merit based i.e. Normalised score of 10+2 board marks i.e there is NO separate Entrance test for Admission. The application form for TNEA is available online only. The students who have registered and submitted the application form before the last date will have to first go through document verification and then after that rank list is announced. Students whose names come up in the rank list can go through the further proceeding of Admission.



The online submission of Application forms will start from the 1st week of May and continue till 1st week of June. Document verification will be done in the 2nd week of June. The rank list will be published in the last weel of June. The rest of the proceedings will be continued till July.



Eligibility Criteria:-



Candidates who have studied class 8-12 in Tamil Nadu are eligible and do not need to enclose nativity certificate.



Candidates from Tamil Nadu who have done their schooling 8-12 from the state are eligible.



Candidates who are from Tamil Nadu but have not done their schooling 8-12 from the state are also eligible but they have to produce Nativity certificate.



Wards of Central Government Employees, Public Sector Employees or any other recognised Governmental Institition Employees, who are posted in TN for the past 5 years are also eligible.



Cildren of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre Officers can apply.



Students of General Category need to have minimum 50% PCM percentage and students of Reserved category need to have minimum 40-45% PCM percentage.



There is no age limit for candidates except Marine Engineering Students who should not be older than 25 years. They need to have minimum 60% PCM percentage and also English having minimum 50%. Other Specifications for marine Engineering are:- Height-not less than 157 cm, Weight min 48 kg. and Should have normal vision.





Students who are not a native of Tamil Nadu can also apply. TNEA releases separate application forms for Home State Quota and Other State Quota. Application form for other state candidates will be released around 3rd week of June, where the Application process remains the same.

The online registration of TNEA 2019 will start tentatively in the 1st week of May 2019 for admission to undergraduate engineering and technology courses at some 563 participating institutes.



The TNEA 2019 admission process will be conducted by Anna University.





Eligibility for TNEA will be as follows:





Nativity:



  • Candidates from Tamil Nadu who have passed class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII exams from the state are eligible
  • Natives of Tamil Nadu who have passed any of class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII exams from schools situated outside the state of Tamil Nadu are also eligible but have to submit Nativity Certificate
  • Wards of central government employees are also eligible if their parents are employed in TN for the past five years.
  • Candidates who have studied VIII-XII in the state of TN are eligible and don’t need to enclose Nativity Certificate.
  • Children of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers can also apply.
  • Wards of Public Sector employees or those working in Government recognized Institutions for the past five years at the time of application submission are eligible.




Qualifying Exam:



The candidate needs to have passed 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks(for general category) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Hello Akash,

TNEA is Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions. It is not an exam while it is the way through which one would get admissions to engineering colleges in Tamilnadu. The eligibility is that you should have an aggregate of 50% if you belong to gen category, 45% for OBC ,40% for SC,ST,SCA,MBC,DNC category.
