Solution : Dividend = N, Divisor = 6, Remainder = 4, Quotient = Q
Dividend = (Divisor × Quotient) + Remainder
Case 1:
N = (6 × Q) + 4............................(1)
Multiply equation (1) by 2
⇒ 2N = 2(6 × Q) + 8
⇒ 2N = 12Q + 8
Case 2:
2N is divided by 6
⇒ 2N = 12Q + 6 + 2
⇒ 2N = 6(2Q + 1) + 2 (comparing with formula)
So, the remainder is 2.
Hence, the correct answer is 2.
